The “Beast from the East” snow storm, whilst not as bad as expected, has played havoc with my Couch-to-5K training schedule. We don’t have much snow, but it’s enough to make the paths very slippery. Add to the mix, the bitter windchills, and it could be a recipe for disaster. I don’t want to end up in hospital with a broken wrist or torn ankle tendons.
For my own safety, I hereby give myself permission to stay indoors.
I don’t own a treadmill so I’ve replaced running with core training and plenty of yoga stretches. Lunges, squats, vertical crunches, downward dog, pyramid … you get the picture.
I made a cool discovery. All the extra yoga means I can now fold over, palms flat to the floor, and kiss my own knees. Weird huh? Still, it’s a good indicator of increasing flexibility.
It just goes to show you are never to old to improve your body strength and flexibility.
Have a lovely Tuesday everyone. Stay warm if you’re in the grip of the Beast.
