One-liner Wednesday – know your audience

“Never put a sock in a toaster.”

Once a month I have the joy of reading the bible readings for Sunday morning mass. I live in fear of the Old Testament and its unpronounceable names! Last Sunday I was on reading duty, second reader, so no Old Testament for me. Instead, I got the giggles in case it was a reading from the letters of St Paul to the Corinthians.

As I approached the lectern, I took a deep breath, scanned the congregation, and decided to go with what was written in front of me. I’ve no idea what said congregation thought as I gazed out at them, grinning like a Cheshire Cat. Maybe they thought I was filled to the brim with joy.

A few of them who know my sense of humour were thinking the same as me and wondering if I would go down that route…

In case you’re wondering, this is the source of my barely held back laughter…(my favourite bit starts at 1 min 40 secs.

Enjoy!

Today’s mid-week giggle is sponsored by my daft sense of humour, Eddie Izzard, and Linda G Hill
