… after a fruitless day searching through the help files and watching on-line tutorials, I am still stumped.
Here’s what I want to do. I would like to publish my usual witterings on one page (random witterings) and post specific stuff on a different page, accessed by a menu button. My new category is only going to have menopause-related content. The random witterings will contain posts like this, as well as One-liner Wednesday, JusJoJan and SoCS.
So far, I’ve been able to create a new category and a new page but when I post a test-post for this new category, it appears in my normal stream as well as on the new page. Harrumph!
Short of upgrading to a business package to use plug-ins, do any of you seasoned readers have solutions/workarounds?
Thanks in advance, my lovelies.
Cath xx
I think the way to work around this, is a two-part deal. You need to build a custom menu that has menu items for each category. It sounds like you may have already done this. The other piece is to make the home page (main page of your blog) a ‘static’ page so that new content isn’t automatically added to that page. You might be able to add a widget (maybe two) on that static page, that shows posts by category. That way, if someone ends up at the main page, they can navigate to the post they are interested in.
I think there might be a better answer, but unfortunately, I don’t have a place where I can test any other ideas.

Dan is right. There’s no way to stop everything you post going on to your main page, but if you make a static page with links to categories, chances are no one will ever find your main page at all. Have a look at my fiction blog – I’ve done something similar there. You can really only get to my categories with the drop down menu at the top. https://lindaghillfiction.com/

It worked…. I did what you and Dan suggested and tada! 🙂
And then I changed the design… time for a colour, font and layout refresh.
Thank you xx

Thank you so much… there’s a widget you can add to a page which shows who you follow… let me see if I can work out how I did it😊

I’m on my iPad at the mo… here’s where I think the widget is…
My Site > Theme > Customize > Widgets > Side bar (that’s where mine is) then I think you can adjust the settings to suit your needs. Hope this helps 😊

Lol!!!! I hear ya!! I gave birth to my youngest son with out drugs and I’d do that 10 times to avoid menopause! Soaking sheets in my sleep like I was in a bathtub! Hot flashes any time / anywhere!!! Argh!! If men knew how we suffered the world would be very different 😆
