“Let’s go Christmas shopping” they said.
“It’ll be fun!” they said.
“Yeh… right!” I replied.
It was hell. Don’t get me wrong. I love Christmas. I just don’t love not being able to walk is a straight line along the street. I particularly don’t like the thoughtlessness of some people.
“Yes that was my foot you trod on. If you stopped looking at your mobile phone and paid attention to where you were going, my foot would be so much happier!”
Onwards brave shopper, and into my favourite essential oils store, a veritable sanctuary for the overwrought soul. There’s nothing so soothing as a calm-scented store and smiling staff. Thank you the lovely people at Neal’s Yard.
Leaving the store with a renewed serenity, I spied my next destination, a small shop in the Shambles, a unique little street in York, selling everything Harry Potter-related. Within 10 minutes I left with everything I need to keep a Slytherin-fixated niece happy as Larry. All I have to do is airfreight it to the other side of the world in time for the big Ho Ho Ho!
I have to say, I was delighted when a text message popped up to tell me I had five minutes left until my parking ran out. Yay… an airtight reason to leave the city an head homewards to the fraught-free city.
I may have to rethink my shopping tactics and go midweek instead.
Wishing you all a fun-filled weekend.
Cath xx
Today’s weekend nonsense was partly sponsored by a horrendous trip to the city and by Linda G Hill’s post encouraging us to come up with a post containing words with the letters ‘ght’… I tried!

Inconsiderate people can ruin anything.

Add the person who didn’t give way on the road when her side was blocked and had the blooming nerve to give me the evil stares as she tried to push past. Rude little blighter! Aaaaand breathe!

These people give new meaning to driving defensively.

Oh my, yes, shopping on the weekend is frightful. I try to avoid it at all costs.

I love Christmas, too. But shopping not so much, especially on a Saturday. If I have to go shopping close to Christmas, I’m going to have to sing some carols.
