One-liner Wednesday – counting blessings in lockdown

It’s all to easy in lockdown, to focus on what has been taken from us. Mr D and I cannot go to our local pub for an afternoon beer-testing session at the weekends. We can’t visit parents and friends. No Christmas shopping at the markets either. Focussing on these things will bring you down.

On the flip side, our local pub is able to do takeout food. We tested the service last weekend and had a magnificent Sunday lunch, cooked by the fabulous chef, collected safely from the kitchens and set up in our own home. Delicious! We are doing our bit to make sure the business survives in good shape, ready for action when we’re allowed back.

On the visiting friends and family front… it’s not quite the same but video calls are fast becoming the norm and we get to play around with some of the silly filters that come with certain conferencing packages. These make great photo opportunities.

I haven’t found a solution to not being able to browse for Christmas stocking fillers, but on the bright side, lockdown won’t last for ever and there will be enough time to get a few cool things for the family.

See – plenty of blessings around us if we look for them.

This week’s midweek pondering is brought to you in response to Linda G Hill’s One-liner challenge. Ok, so a may have written a few extra lines! Click here to see how to take part.
