The brighter side of life returns

At last! Better times are coming!

Don’t you just love certain cards when they pop up in a reading? Who doesn’t love The Sun? That happy, smiling child riding a pretty pony. The pony reminds me of a ‘My Little Pony’, with its swishy tail and mane. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it was a unicorn in disguise! Beaming down over the scene is a serene sun, warming the sunflowers growing on the wall. I often think the four flowers represent the four tarot suits basking in the warmth.

There’s been precious little feeling of sunshine and warmth in the last 6 months, what with COVID restrictions, spikes in variants and the weather. The UK has had one of the coldest springs for quite some time, coupled with persistent rain, hail and snow. We could be forgiven for forgetting that above it all, there’s blue skies and sunshine. It’s easy to fall into a downward spiral of negative thinking when faced with cold, wet and windy conditions. We humans perk up the minute a chink of blue sky appears.

This week’s oracle card reminds us to stay in balance, body, mind and spirit, no matter how relentless lockdown restrictions have been and no matter how cold and dark the weather. It’s important to remember that storms do not last forever. Above the cloud-filled skies the sun continues to shine and will be there for us once the skies eventually clear, as they surely will.

Take heart from this combination. We are nearly at the end of dark times. The draws in recent weeks are all pointing towards life starting to move again. Sunny days will return soon. Just hold on a little longer. In the meantime, it wouldn’t do any harm to let loose your inner child and find something to do for yourself that makes you smile.

Moving from the drawing board to real life

It’s the job that’s never started as takes the longest to finish [Samwise Gamgee – The Lord of the Rings]

J.R.R Tolkien

This quote was the first thing that sprung to mind when I pulled this week’s card, the Ace of Pentacles. The focus of the suit of Pentacles is in our material world: our finances, career, physical health and manifesting our goals. However, the flip side is that this suit represents some of our less desirable traits: greed, materialism, over-indulgence (and lack of exercise too!) and poor financial management. Phew – it landed in the upright position for me!

On with the focus for the week. I don’t have a lottery ticket, and as far as I know, I’m not due a windfall. As I’m planning to retire in the next two years, the likelihood of climbing further up the career ladder is limited, but not out of the question. My physical health is sound too. That leaves manifesting a goal or two.

Since the tail end of last year I’ve been toying with the idea of starting my own business, reading tarot and oracle cards. As some of you may know, during Lockdown 1.0 (UK) I attended a couple of virtual tester training sessions and, with guidance from the cards, signed up for a yearlong course. I had the option of completing all the courses and leaving it at that, or carrying out real-life readings for clients, completing a final exam and becoming a certified tarot reader. Of course I did the whole thing!

But that’s as far as it’s gone … I’m still working full time in my paid job, but get the nagging feeling that I’m missing out on not taking the next step. Hence the very apt quote at the top. If I don’t start somewhere, I will never manifest this goal.

The Ace of Pentacles is indicating that it’s time to get going with this goal. The mountains in the background represent some obstacles to overcome, but the outlook is promising. Just look at the verdant growth in the card. Add in the energy of the accompanying Angel Oracle card and the message becomes stronger.

It’s time to put my skills into practice and start up a business plan with smart objectives in place (once a trainer, always a trainer!). I need to add in a dose of courage too.

If any of you have experience of setting up your own tarot reading business, I’m all ears. Any advice is welcome in the comments section.

Wishing you a blessed week.
