“Worrying means you suffer twice.” – Newt Scamander, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Very wise words indeed, but in practice, not so easy to follow, especially when one has elderly parents. As you know, I visited my family at the weekend. My sister and her family are all in great health, with my niece about to start an epic journey, university. Like most youngsters, she’s leaving home to attend uni – but she’s travelling to the other side of the world! Aunty Cath will worry, but not nearly as much as my sister.
The biggest worry of the weekend was for my mother. She’s always been the healthier parent. But not at the moment. I was so shocked at how much weight she’s lost… and a persistent cough was making her breathless. Before I left for home, I had a frank talk with her. She promised to go to the doctors the following day. Just as well she did. They took one look at her vitals and sent her to hospital. She’s still there!
Until we get a diagnosis, I will try to follow Newt’s advice, but it’s a work in progress for me.
Wishing you all a wonderful Wednesday.
Cath xx
