#JusJoJan 21st – Time to get into shape

Lockdown and Christmas weight gain doesn’t magically fall from your body just because you wish it did. There’s no magic spell either. Trust me, I looked! There’s only moving more and eating healthy.

I’ve not had a drop of wine, beer or gin since 10th January. Not because I’ve sworn off the booze, but more to do with an unwanted visit from gum abscess fairy. No idea how it sneaked in. All I know is that I’m on antibiotics for a spell…. the kind that don’t play nice with alcohol. Boo!

On the bright side, this dry spell will help me prize off some unwanted waistline poundage. Every cloud has a silver lining. I will exit lockdown 3.0 in better shape than I entered it!

Today’s wittering was prompted by Linda G Hill. Click here to see how to take part in the last days of the JusJoJan challenge.

One-liner Wednesday – less is more

I have a charity 5K race coming up in mid-September. One of my health goals for this year is to run it faster than all previous personal records. As I am also on the lookout for a new (to me) car, I took some inspiration from the car industry…

The same size engine performs differently depending on the weight of the car. So if I want to break my own personal record, I need to increase my cardio fitness (increase the engine capacity) and reduce body weight (lighten the chassis). So far, this theory seems to be working. My chassis has lost ten pounds so far (4 more to go) and the horrible, but necessary, sprint runs have increased my engine capacity. Maintaining this new state of efficiency might take something the car industry can’t provide – the will power to resist chocolate and second gin and tonics!

Today’s very strange thought process, lasting more than one line, was prompted by Linda G Hill and her mid-week prompt. Click here for the full rules.
