What a wild week last week was! I’m not a big fan of international travel on my own. Add hubby into the mix and I’ll go to the ends of the earth. However, work demanded a trip to Munich so not much option for me then.
I have to say, in spite of my travel nerves, I managed to successfully transport myself by planes, trains and automobiles. I even managed a halting chat in dreadful German with my taxi driver.
Spurred on by my early navigational triumph I spent the entire trip immersed in the local culture. I loved leaving my desk at lunchtime to go out to eat with my colleagues. It’s healthier than eating lunch at the desk… not that I do that when I’m working from home, but my office days would see me glued to the desk till home time.
And as for socialising after work, where better on a hot evening than a traditional beer garden? Fresh pretzels, obatzda (cheese dip par excellence), a wheat beer and great company.
I did manage to squeeze in a bit of actual work while I was there, and I do have to go back again next month. This time I have a shopping list of little treats to bring home again, one of them being Senf. I have no idea what it’s made from but boy does it taste fab with sausage and sauerkraut.
As a heads up, I am flat out busy with work stuff everyone has landed in my inbox, all marked urgent. You’d think I was going away for weeks instead of days! That said, I will be off the grid for a week from Friday. Cornwall beckons, with its beaches, tin mines and mystical places to visit. I can hardly wait.
Happy Tuesday my lovelies xx
