#SoCS – Trichological Tales

Sitting up in bed, with my morning herbal tea to hand (I’ve had to stop the morning coffees due to getting the jitters) catching up on everyone’s blogs, I was amused by Linda’s prompt for today. I often wonder what lies behind her prompts. Probably best not to ask!As soon as I read the prompt word I could hear, in my head, a line from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets where Harry, Ron and Hermione are trying to work out how to have a delicate conversation with Hagrid… “Mad and hairy? You wouldn’t be talking about me now, would ya?” It’s also worth mentioning the Monster Book of Monsters while on the subject of Hagrid. An unusually vicious, hairy book that needs the spine stroking if you want to open it and keep all your fingers.

This sparked off another train of thought on books featuring ‘hairy’.

Hairy Maclary books were a great favourite for both my children. The adventures of the little dog and his friends were a joy to read as an adult. My favourite was Zachary Quack, his cute duck friend.

Then there were the hairy monsters in Lord of the Rings. The wargs! Nasty wolf-like creatures based on Norse mythology. Goes without saying, they were on Sauron’s side!

Wishing you all a super Saturday xx
