One-liner Wednesday… I shall go to the ball.

Cinderella

“Life is not a fairytale. If you lose your shoe at midnight, you’re drunk!”

I have no intention of being careless with my footwear at this year’s office Christmas party, which is why my new dance shoes have ankle straps to secure the sparkly, glittering treasures to my feet.

I may turn into a pumpkin at the stroke of midnight, but I fully intend to go home with both shoes in my possession, irrespective of any alcohol on board!

Today’s one-liner Wednesday is brought to you by Linda G Hill

One-liner Wednesday … there’s a first time for everything!

… and I had two firsts last week.

In previous years, pumpkins were chosen by my kids, carvings designed by my kids, disemboweled by my kids, and mostly carved by them too. They also dressed up and went off trick or treating. I accompanied them every year, until they decided they were old enough to go on their own (more or less).

Thinking back to my own childhood, I missed out on all this. Mother was not a fan of Halloween so I was banned from dressing up, carving lanterns or visiting the neighbours.

Last week I had the house to myself over Halloween so I let my inner child loose on the pumpkins and make-up. I thoroughly enjoyed removing the innards by hand, creating my own design, and carving it. Not content with a lantern, I bought some kids Halloween makeup and did a reasonable job of creating a scary face with a stitched mouth.

I had so much fun and so did the kids who came to visit our house.

Next year I’m planning a costume too!

Thank you to a very sleep-deprived Linda G Hill for the prompt.

One Liner Wednesday

If you would like to participate in this prompt, feel free to use the “One-Liner Wednesday” title in your post, and if you do, you can ping back here to help your blog get more exposure. To execute a pingback, just copy the URL in the address bar on this post, and paste it somewhere in the body of your post. Your link will show up in the comments below. Please ensure that the One-Liner Wednesday you’re pinging back to is this week’s! Otherwise, no one will likely see it but me.

NOTE: Pingbacks only work from WordPress sites. If you’re self-hosted or are participating from another host, like Blogger, please leave a link to your post in the comments below.

As with Stream of Consciousness Saturday (SoCS), if you see a pingback from someone else in my comment section, click and have a read. It’s bound to be short and sweet.

Unlike SoCS, this is not a prompt so there’s no need to stick to the same “theme.”

The rules that I’ve made for myself (but don’t always follow) for “One-Liner Wednesday” are:

1. Make it one sentence.

2. Try to make it either funny or inspirational.

3. Use our unique tag #1linerWeds.

4. Add our very cool badge to your post for extra exposure!

5. Have fun!
